BULLDOG® #36 Non-Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating
Non-fibered aluminum roof coating is a smart choice when a roof needs reflective protection without a fibered build. BULLDOG® #36 Non-Fibered Aluminum Coating is designed for asphalt roofs, modified bitumen membranes, and metal roofs where sunlight, surface heat, and weather exposure can shorten roof life. It creates a long-lasting reflective surface that helps repel the sun’s rays and protect the roof system beneath it.
Built for Reflective Roof Protection
BULLDOG® #36 is made from a proprietary blend of special asphalts, petroleum spirits, and high-grade aluminum pigments. The result is a silvery, reflective roof coating that helps slow the degradation of asphalt roofing surfaces while reducing surface heat. For property owners and roofing professionals, that means a practical coating option that supports roof maintenance, energy-conscious performance, and long-term protection.
This product contains no fillers or fibers, giving it a smooth, non-fibered consistency that can be applied by brush, roller, or spray. It is especially useful on sound, clean, dry roof surfaces where reflectivity and asphalt protection are the priority.
Higher Aluminum Content for Longer Coating Life
One of the key strengths of BULLDOG® #36 is its aluminum metal content. The product contains 50% more aluminum metal than required by the ASTM standard. That added aluminum content helps improve the reflective character of the coating and contributes to longer coating life. Translation: more shine where it counts, and less roof stress from the sun doing what the sun does.
Recommended Uses
BULLDOG® #36 Non-Fibered Aluminum Coating is commonly used as a reflective roof coating for asphalt roofs, modified bitumen membranes, and metal roofs. It also functions as a rust inhibitor for metal roof surfaces, making it a versatile option for roof maintenance and restoration work.
- Reflective coating for asphalt roofs
- Reflective coating for modified bitumen membranes
- Protective coating for metal roofs
- Rust-inhibiting coating for metal surfaces
- Roof maintenance applications where surface heat reduction is desired
Application Guidelines
Apply BULLDOG® #36 to a sound, clean, dry surface using a brush, roller, or spray equipment. The coating should be applied at temperatures of 50°F and rising. Mechanically mix the material before use and do not thin the product.
Recommended coverage rates vary by surface type. For metal roofs, use approximately 1/3 gallon per 100 square feet. For asphalt or modified bitumen surfaces, use approximately 1/2 gallon per 100 square feet. For masonry surfaces, use approximately 1 gallon per 100 square feet.
Do not apply this coating to roofs that pond water. Do not apply before impending rainfall. Air intakes should be covered before application and while the coating cures.
Performance Characteristics
BULLDOG® #36 meets ASTM D 2824, Type I. It has a service temperature range of -20°F to +170°F and sets to touch in approximately 4 hours at the recommended application rate. When applied at a rate of 100 square feet per gallon, the dry film thickness without absorption is approximately 5.5 mils.
