BULLDOG® #85 Q.D. Primer

Quick dry asphalt primer is built for projects where surface preparation matters and time is working against the crew. BULLDOG® #85 Q.D. Primer is a rapid-drying, heavy-bodied asphalt primer designed for concrete, asphalt, and metal surfaces before applying compatible BULLDOG® dampproofing and waterproofing compounds and systems.

Built for Fast Surface Preparation

BULLDOG® #85 Q.D. Primer helps create a better bond between the prepared surface and the material applied over it. It is especially useful when contractors need a quick-dry primer that can support the next stage of a dampproofing or waterproofing application without unnecessary delays.

This primer dries to touch in approximately 3–4 hours and cures hard in approximately 24 hours, depending on film thickness and outside temperature. In other words, it keeps the prep work moving — because nobody wants the primer to be the reason the job slows down.

Application Guidelines

Apply BULLDOG® #85 Q.D. Primer to a clean, dry surface using a brush, spray equipment, or squeegee. Do not thin the product. Cover air intakes before applying and while the material cures.

The recommended application rate is approximately 100 square feet per gallon. Coverage may vary depending on the porosity of the substrate, so rougher or more absorbent surfaces may require additional material to achieve proper coverage.

This product is intended for exterior use only. Empty contents before disposing of pails or spray cans.

Performance Characteristics

BULLDOG® #85 meets ASTM D 41, Type II. It has a service temperature range of -30°F to +160°F and a dry film thickness of approximately 8 mils when applied at a rate of 100 square feet per gallon without absorption.

The product has a net weight of approximately 7.6 pounds per gallon and a flash point of 104°F according to ASTM D 93. It is homogeneous in the container and requires slight stirring before use.

Cleanup and Handling

Clean tools with mineral spirits or #99 BULLDOG Asphalt Remover. BULLDOG® #85 contains petroleum solvents and should be used with proper ventilation, protective gloves, eye protection, and safe handling practices.
