Foundation Coating for Exterior Masonry Above or Below Grade
BULLDOG® Foundation Coating #45 is a ready-to-use, non-fibered petroleum asphalt coating for exterior foundation and substructural masonry. Its heavy brush consistency requires no heating or thinning before application. The coating provides dampproofing protection on properly prepared surfaces above or below grade.
Built for Foundation and Substructural Surfaces
This foundation coating is designed for exterior masonry where a heavy, uniform asphalt coat is needed. Apply it only to dirt-free, dry masonry. The Product Data Sheet states that the product is not intended to withstand high hydrostatic pressure. When hydrostatic pressure is present, use BULLDOG® Mastic Dampproofing Cement #601AF with BULLDOG® Asphalt Saturated Cotton Fabric #201.

Foundation Coating Application Guidance
First, confirm that the masonry is clean and dry. Then apply a heavy, uniform coat by brush, roller, or spray at a rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet (0.8 liters per square meter). At the recommended application rate, allow approximately two days for drying. Do not backfill until the coating is dry. In addition, cover air intakes before application and while the material cures.
The listed service-temperature range is -30°F to +130°F. Clean tools with mineral spirits or BULLDOG® #99 Asphalt Remover. The Data Sheet lists a closed-cup flash point of 104°F using ASTM D93 flash-point test methods.
