Stitchbond Polyester Fabric for Roof Resurfacing Systems

BULLDOG® Stitchbond Polyester Fabric #272 is a reinforcing mat containing 2.1 pounds of polyester per 100 sq. ft. It is used as part of roof resurfacing systems and comes in rolls 40 in. wide by 324 ft. long.

Built for Asphalt Base Roofs and Metal Roofs

BULLDOG® Stitchbond Polyester Fabric provides a way to resurface asphalt gravel roofs without removing all the gravel, though all loose gravel must be removed. The fabric can also be used on uneven surfaces on metal roofs and is primarily used as part of a roof resurfacing system for deteriorated asphalt base roofs and metal roofs.

Recommended Uses

BULLDOG® Stitchbond Polyester Fabric #272 is a reinforcing mat containing 2.1 pounds of polyester per 100 sq. ft. It is used as part of roof coating systems and comes in rolls 40 in. wide by 324 ft. long.

  • Use with cold process asphalt solvent type coatings or emulsions for resurfacing existing roofs.
  • Use with Fibered Aluminum Coating as a surface treatment.
  • Use as a reinforcing membrane with cold process asphalt coatings, emulsion coatings, and elastomeric coatings.

Application Guidance

Use on a clean, sound surface. On gravel surfaced asphalt roofs, remove all loose gravel. Apply BULLDOG® Asphalt Primer and allow it to dry. Apply the first coat using BULLDOG® Cold Process Coating or BULLDOG® Emulsion Roof Coating at a rate of 4-5 gal./100 sq. ft. and embed the mat while wet. Then apply a second coat at a rate of 4 gal./100 sq. ft. to the top of the mat. After the top coat weathers the appropriate time, 3 months for Cold Process Coating and 10 days for Emulsion Roof Coating, apply BULLDOG® Fibered Aluminum Coating or BULLDOG® / DUREX® White Elastomeric Roof Coating. One roll with 3 inch side laps and 6 inch end laps covers 1000 square feet.
