Non-Fibered Emulsion Dampproofing for Below-Grade Masonry

BULLDOG® Non-Fibered Emulsion Dampproofing #42 is a brush- or spray-grade asphalt coating emulsified with water and agents. Contractors use this non-fibered emulsion dampproofing on exterior masonry below grade when a heavy coating is not required. It can adhere to new, green, or slightly damp masonry surfaces.

Built for Light-Coat Below-Grade Applications

This coating provides a practical option for exterior masonry walls below grade. Because it is designed for situations where a heavy coat is unnecessary, crews can apply it by brush or spray. The water-based emulsion may require slight stirring before use.

Recommended Uses

  • Dampproofing exterior masonry below grade
  • Coating new or green masonry surfaces
  • Application to slightly damp masonry
  • Projects where a heavy dampproofing coat is not required

Non-Fibered Emulsion Dampproofing Application Guidance

Apply the coating by brush or spray to a slightly damp surface. Use approximately 2½ gallons per 100 square feet (1 liter per square meter). Apply only when the temperature is 50°F and rising. At the recommended rate, the listed dry time is approximately 24 hours.

For below-grade work, wait 48 hours before backfilling. Keep the product from freezing during storage. After application, clean tools with mineral spirits or BULLDOG® #99 Asphalt Remover. Review the job conditions before work begins and follow the container instructions and Data Sheet guidance.

Standards and Product Selection

The Product Data Sheet lists ASTM D1227, Type III, Class I and ASTM D1187, Type I. Contractors reviewing the material classification can consult the ASTM D1227 emulsified asphalt standard. For another dampproofing option in the same category, compare the application requirements for BULLDOG® Foundation Coating #45.
