  • Relining metal or wood gutters
  • Embedding slate tiles
  • Exterior applications only

Bitustatic Compound Application Guidance

First, remove loose paint, loose cement, and other weak material with a wire brush. Confirm that the surface is clean and dry. Then use a trowel to apply the compound at approximately 1/8-inch (3.2 mm) thickness. One gallon covers approximately 13 square feet (1.2 square meters).

The Data Sheet recommends priming the surface with BULLDOG® Q.D. Primer or BULLDOG® Asphalt Primer. Contractors considering an asphalt primer can review BULLDOG® #82 Asphalt Primer – Spec Grade and confirm that it fits the project requirements. For unusual water conditions or vibration-related cracking, embed BULLDOG® Asphalt Saturated Cotton Fabric in the first coat. Afterward, apply a second trowel coat over the fabric.

Drying, Service Range, and Cleanup

  • Drying: Touch-dry in a few hours; approximately 24 hours for full cure
  • Aluminum coating: Apply after a minimum of 30 days
  • Service temperature: -30°F to +150°F
  • Cleanup: Mineral spirits or BULLDOG® #99 Asphalt Remover

Cover air intakes before application and while the material cures. The Data Sheet also reports behavior testing under ASTM D4586 asphalt roof cement methods.
