Semi-Mastic Dampproofing for Below-Grade Surfaces
BULLDOG® Semi-Mastic Dampproofing #602AF is a heavy brush-grade, solvent-type coating made with asphalt, solvent, mineral fillers, and other stabilizers. It requires no heating or thinning. Contractors use this semi-mastic dampproofing on exterior surfaces below grade.
Built for Concrete, Masonry, and Steel
The coating adheres to concrete, masonry, and steel surfaces. It can also serve as a backup coating for stone and masonry. In addition, crews may use it as both the base and surface coating in an assembly with an embedded reinforcing membrane.

Semi-Mastic Dampproofing Application Guidance
First, confirm that the surface is clean and dry. Then apply the material by brush or spray at a rate of 3 to 4 gallons per 100 square feet (1.2 to 1.6 liters per square meter). For best results, apply when the temperature is 40°F and rising. The Product Data Sheet recommends applying BULLDOG® Asphalt Primer before this coating.
Contractors considering a compatible primer can review BULLDOG® #82 Asphalt Primer – Spec Grade and confirm that it fits the project requirements. When the coating is used below grade, wait 48 hours before backfilling. Also, cover air intakes before application and while the material cures.
Drying, Service Range, and Cleanup

- Dry time: Approximately 3 to 5 days
- Service temperature: -30°F to +150°F
